Guide to the library

This is how it works after the renovation

The guide briefly describes how the library operates after the renovation. Most importantly, the library operates on the entrance floor again, and the information desk has returned to that floor. Please visit the information desk with your questions; we will gladly assist.

The information desk, books, and self-checkout machine are on the entrance floor. Group workspaces are available on floor three.

The third floor's open collection (ÖS) is closed, and you can no longer pick up and borrow from it.

The Special Collections Reading Room and newspapers on microfilm remain in the basement, and the newspaper computer has moved back there.

The library offers functional study spaces on the entrance and first floors. Each study space has its own light fixture and power outlet.

Group study rooms are on the first floor above the information desk. The rooms have monitors and whiteboards. Students and staff at Lund University can book group study rooms.

The group workspaces on the third floor are not bookable. Remember that the spaces are for collaborative work, not individual use.

Find out more about the study spaces

You will find a selection from our previous collections on the entrance floor. The selection includes items from the open collection (ÖS) and the reference collection. Additionally, we have four new themed collections featuring the library's large and diverse collections. The themes are personal archives, book history, sustainability research, and maps.

We call it the public collection; you can only read it in the library.

Reading room loans are available in Bengtssonsalen

You pick up, borrow, and store your reading room loans in Bengtssonsalen. Borrow using the self-checkout machine. You are welcome to read these loans anywhere within the building. You return reading room loans at the information desk.

Borrow

Everything you can borrow is in storage, so you must request it in advance. The requested books are on the pickup shelf on the entrance floor. To borrow, please use the self-checkout machine.

You can no longer borrow course literature from the University Library. Instead, you borrow course literature from your faculty library.

Returning books

You return books to the self-return machine on the entrance floor.

You are also welcome to return our books to any library within Lund University.

The book drop is closed

Unfortunately, books take damage when they land in the return box. One of the University Library's missions is to preserve its collections. So the library has decided to close the drop box.

You cannot get an LU card at the University Library, as the library no longer has a card office.

Find a card office on the LU Card website (lukortet.lu.se)
