Springer Nature Fully Open Access

Publishing Open Access with Springer/Nature

Researchers at Lund University can use agreements to publish open access with easy handling of the administrative processes and negotiated costs. Read more about the terms of the agreement here.

About the agreement

Springer Nature Fully OA grants publishing in Springer Nature’s pure open access journals. Initially the cost of publishing is paid by the University Library.

The corresponding author must be affiliated to Lund University and have stated Lund University as affiliation in the article in order to be able to publish open access within the agreement.

Journals from the following imprints are included in the agreement:

  • BioMed Central (BMC)
  • Springer Open Journals
  • NatureResearch (including Nature Communications and Scientific Reports)
  • Palgrave Macmillan (one journal: Palgrave Communications)

The following publication types are included in the agreement: Original Paper, Review Paper, Brief Communication and Continuous Education.

The agreement is valid until a certain number of articles have been published.

Lund University is also part of additional national agreements with Springer Nature. The Nature Research Journals agreement includes open access publishing free of cost in Nature journals, and the agreement Springer Compact includes around 2000 of the publisher’s hybrid journals.

Workflow for authors

Make sure that you are affiliated to Lund university in the article, and always submit a manuscript using the institutional e-mail (ending with “lu.se” or “lth.se”). LU-affiliated corresponding authors will be identified by the publisher when submitting. When asked to enter the affiliation, please only enter Lund University. This will facilitate the identification. Your affiliation will be verified by staff at Lund University Library.

The agreement comes into force if and when the article is accepted, not upon submission. When the article is accepted, the researcher receives a request about open access.
