ISBN for a doctoral thesis
This applies to doctoral students at Lund University only.
Before sending your doctoral thesis to print, it needs a unique identifier called an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). The ISBN is usually printed on the first page of the thesis.
Depending on your faculty or department, you can request an ISBN either from your faculty or from the University Library.
The University Library issues two ISBNs:
- one for the printed version
- one for the electronic version
Both ISBNs must be included in both versions of your thesis.
In some cases, a doctoral thesis is published as part of a series and is assigned a publication series’ ISSN (International Standard Serial Number). ISSNs are not provided by the University Library, they are managed by the faculties when applicable.
