We are renovating the inside of the building next year, making room for more and better study spaces. By 2025, functional and beautiful study spaces will be available for you. Starting this year, Akademiska Hus will renovate the building's many windows. A work that will continue next year.

The preliminary start for renovating Lund University Library's interior is February 2024. We will renovate the entrance and first floors to improve the study spaces.

By 2025, Lund University Library's interior will match its unique and beautiful exterior.

Maintenance of the building's many windows will also take place. The windows renovation will begin in the fall of 2023 and continue next year.

After the renovation, improved study spaces, easier to find and more accessible

When the renovation is complete, our study spaces will have higher quality. You can expect better lighting and sound environment and accessible electrical outlets. Finding your way around the building will be easier. And our exhibitions will have a better space on the entrance floor.

Floor one will be more accessible with a new staircase and elevator. And you will find our group study rooms on this floor after the renovation.

We hope you choose one of our updated, improved study spaces in 2025.

Open as usual during the renovation, but fewer study spaces

Most things will work as usual during the renovation. Due to closed group study rooms and the reading rooms Tegnér and Bengtsson, we will have fewer study spaces.

For researchers, we will keep the microfilm reading rooms and the Special Collections Reading room open in the basement. The Scholars' Reading Rooms on the first floor will also be available.

We will remain open as usual as far as possible during the renovation, but you can expect some noise. Still, you are always welcome to the library.
