Borrow
Renovating UB
In our library catalogue, LUBcat, you can find publications at Lund University's libraries. Once you have created a library account, you can log in to LUBcat to make requests and manage your loans.
How to get a library account
Students and staff use their LU cards as library cards. Students activate their LU card as a library card in the Library catalogue. Choose your user category and faculty home library when activating your account.
Register your library account in the library catalogue (LUBcat lub.lu.se)
Staff needs to visit one of the libraries at Lund University to activate their LU card as a library card.
Patrons not affiliated with Lund University can get a library card by visiting any of the libraries at Lund University. Please note that you must be eighteen years or older.
Lending conditions
The libraries at Lund University have the same lending conditions. Read our lending conditions on Lund University Libraries' website (PDF, 572 kB, new tab).
How to request and borrow material
In our library catalogue LUBcat, you can find publications from the University Library and whether it is in our open collections or if you need to request the publication. Most of our collections at the University Library are in storage, so you must request them to borrow. Please note that we do not handle requests during weekends.
When you have received notification that your requested publication is available, you collect it from the pick-up shelf.
The loan period for our loans is at least twenty-eight days. If no one else requests the same title, your loan automatically renews five times. Researchers and teachers have twelve automatic renewals.
When the University Library is closed, you can return books at the book drop box on the west side of the building. You can also return University Library books to other libraries within Lund University.
Reading room loans
Some categories in our collections, such as Swedish fiction, cookbooks, schoolbooks, journals, and yearbooks, are only reading room loans. They must be read at the library and cannot leave the building. Reading room loans are retrieved and borrowed from the information desk on floor three and stored there when you are not using them.
