Study spaces and reading rooms
We offer over 300 study spaces at the University Library, some of them in quiet reading rooms, some of them in the general library space. Laptops are allowed everywhere, including the quiet reading rooms. Food, however, is not allowed. Drinks in containers with lids or caps are allowed.
1st floor, north part. Take a right after passing by the information desk and then use the stairs on your left.
- 30 booths
- study spaces along the railing, with a view of the entrance. Here you can hear background noise from the hustle and bustle of library life.
1st floor, south-west part. Use the stairs or the lift to the left of the information desk, follow the signs for Riksdagstrycket.
Here you will find:
- 12 booths
Ground floor, north part. Quiet reading room. Take a right after passing the information desk, then a left through the reference collection.
- 40 booths
Ground floor, south-east part. Quiet reading room. Take a right after passing the information desk and then a right again. Pass through the wooden and glass double doors.
- 32 study spaces
Ground floor, south-east part. Quiet reading room. Take a right after passing by the information desk, then walk straight until you reach the green staircase.
- 41 study spaces
The Special Collections Reading Room
Basement, north-east part. Quiet reading room.
Open Monday–Friday 9:00 to 17:00 (NB See the Start page for limited opening hours).

Here you study the following types of material:
- all items printed before 1900
- daily newspapers
- manuscripts and archives
- sheet music prints and musical scores
