Oxford University Press
About the agreement
The agreement is a so-called “Read & Publish” agreement. The agreement is of "first come, first served" type and covers a limited amount of articles for the universities that are participating in the agreement. The Article Publishing Cost (APC) is prepaid by the organisations that are part of the agreement into a common fund and the corresponding author does not have to pay any fee to publish open access as long as the total number of papers in the agreement is limited to have not been reached. For the years 2020 - 2021, the agreement covers 75% respectively 85% of the expected publishing.
The agreement applies to articles published in OUPs hybrid journals. Open access journals or journals from learned societies are not included in the agreement. The titles included corresponds to Oxford Journals Full Collection (with the exception of 41 titles). The agreement only covers the APC. Note that other publishing costs, such as color print charges or offprints, are not included.
If you wish to publish in a fully open access journal you can apply for support from the central LU APC-fund.
CC-BY 4.0 should normally be offered but some journals only allow more restrictive licenses for open access such as CC BY-NC and CC BY-NC-ND.
"Standard license" is not OA but behind pay wall.
Workflow for authors
State your affiliation to Lund University and always use the LU / LTH e-mail in contact with the publisher.
- When a paper get accepted the corresponding author will get an e-mail with log-in information for OUP: s ”Author services site”. On the page Manuscript Licenses, the author select the type of licence which the article should be covered by. After selecting an open access licence (e.g. CC_BY) and accepting the terms of that license the author will go on to the page Publishing Charges for Your Article.
- On Publishing Charges for Your Article there is a sub-header ”Open Access Prepayment Account” with a scroll-down menu. Select Swedish Universities (Bibsam affiliated) in that menu.
- When the author has finished all steps at the “Author Services site” the paper will be verified by the University library as being affiliated to Lund University and then made open access when published.
