Food in Need and Desire
Visit the University Library's new exhibition room to see an exhibition on food. A theme that resonates with everyone in some way. The exhibition shows how food has been scarce and abundant throughout history. As you can see in the image above.
We showcase books, ephemera, posters, and photos on the theme of food from the University Library's rich collections. You will see a two-thousand-year-old Egyptian papyrus describing a theft of wheat bread and a poster with the well-known bread propaganda of the 1970s.
The exhibition also features a letter signed by the Swedish father of potatoes, Jonas Alströmer, ration cards from the First World War, the first edition of the Swedish classic Seven Kinds of Biscuits and Cakes (Sju sorters kakor) from 1945, and much more.
A warm invitation to experience Food in Need and Desire!
