Materials for in house use at the University Library

Some items can only be consulted on site at the University Library. These are marked ‟In house use only” (Reading room loan) in the library catalogue. Unique, fragile or unwieldy items from the library’s collections may only be read on site in the Special Collections Reading Room. This is also where you consult materials older than the year 1900.

In addition to the material which is marked "In house use only" (Reading room loan) and which you can only consult on site, there is a great deal of material which can only be borrowed for reading/studying in the Special Collections Reading Room. This applies to: all materials printed before 1900, posters, images, daily newspapers, manuscripts and archives, maps, sheet music and musical scores and ephemera.
