About the Project - Preservation and Accessibility

The purpose of the project is to preserve and make the De la Gardie Archive accessible. Major parts of the archive have not yet been inventoried or listed. Until recently the only means of access to the archive have been handwritten or typed lists and older card catalogues, only available in the library.

The project involves making an inventory of the material, checking it against a previously incomplete list, putting new covers of acid-free paper on it and placing it in protective archival boxes. The writers and recipients of the letters are being identified, and lists of these will be published online.

In 2006-2008 the Swedish Arts Council financed a so-called Access project on the family archives. This project is now completed.

During 2009-2012 the work continues with the remaining parts of the archive, first with the historical and biographical documents. Dr Per Stobaeus, Ph.D., is working on the project. As further archival lists are completed, they will be published under 'Content' on these pages (see the left-hand menu).

The project is funded by the Foundation of Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg.
