The Eighties is an unapologetically nostalgic exhibition highlighting a decade that transformed Sweden and the Swedish self-image. It was a decade framed by somber headlines and tinted in garish shades of pastel; a decade when champagne flowed freely, when the Market was God, when the fog of hairspray lay thick and the constant threat of nuclear war was met with a hedonistic Cheers damn it!"A decade marked by contradiction, like all decades, and yet not quite like anything else. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Karin Salomonsson, professor of ethnology, on Friday, May 4, at 2:00 pm.
