The collections of Lund University Library (UB) have been acquired since
1671 through donations, purchases and legal deposits. UB obtains a legal
deposit copy of everything printed in Sweden, and the Swedish collection
consequently grows with over 700 metres of shelving every year.
An important role of the University Library in the network of Lund University Libraries (LUB) is being a library of cultural heritage. Cultural heritage refers to the parts of the university collections of printed and published documents meant to be stored for all times. It also refers to manuscripts and archives.
The collections today cover over 120 kilometres of shelving.
