E-resources

Visit our large digital library
Lund University has one of the largest digital libraries in Sweden. We have hundreds of thousands of e-books, tens of thousands of e-journals and a few hundred databases, all of which are searchable through multiple services.

In order for studies and research to be conducted at our university, adequate and relevant electronic resources of various kinds must be available.

One of the reasons why Lund’s electronic library is so extensive is that most subject areas (except for veterinary science, military science and agriculture) are represented at Lund University.

The e-resources are searchable via three services:

Many of the resources can also be found through LIBRIS, Google or Google scholar.

At the end of 2016 Lund University had:

  • 360,666 e-books
  • 22,124 e-journals
  • 201 databases

E-books

The purchase of licensed ebooks has increased every year since 2005, and increased further when LUB started buying the Springer eBook Collections.

Apart from a small decrease in 2013 when some subscribed e-resources containing ebooks were cancelled, the acquisition of ebooks show an upward trend. Just over the last three years, our collection has increased by 150,000 titles.

E-journals

Electronic journals are as a rule purchased in packages and collections, rarely as individual titles. This is why the curve starts off high.

Many e-journal packages are subscriptions, and when a subscription is cancelled the e-journals disappear from the holdings. This is one of the reasons why the curve fluctuates over the years.
