Is the Book Missing on the Shelf?

Why can’t I find the book in the Open Collection (ÖS)? Here are a few tips.

  • Have you checked Lovisa to see if it is available?
  • Are you looking at the right place on the shelf? If the book has an author, it is sorted by the author’s name – otherwise by the first word of the title (though not if beginning with a definite or indefinite article such as The). Note that the book is never sorted by the editor’s name.
  • The book could be recently returned and is then placed at the shelf end facing the central aisle – near its original shelf section.
  • Is it a new book? Look at the display of new books in the mid section of ÖS.
  • Is there a nearby trolley with books waiting for re-shelving? Take a look, the books are roughly sorted!

If you still cannot find the book, please ask the staff available 11 am – 3 pm.

Please note that the books placed in the closed stacks (Magasin) or off-site depositories (Depå) must always be requested in advance.
